INDEPENDENCE, IA – The National Republican Congressional Committee, the national organization dedicated to electing Republican congressional candidates, announced Wednesday that Ben Lange was one of 19 candidates across the country to be placed “On the Radar” for additional national assistance.

The announcement comes weeks after Lange won a competitive primary in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District by the largest margin of victory in recent times, and days after financial disclosures revealed Lange outraised the liberal Democrat incumbent Bruce Braley during the last reporting period.

“These candidates have worked hard to meet the benchmarks set to place them on the road to victory,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions. “With voters frustrated with an out-of-touch Democrat majority, these candidates are willing to take the necessary steps to achieve our goal of retiring Nancy Pelosi and winning and building a lasting Republican majority.”

Endorsed by Leaders From Across the District

Scott County Treasurer Bill Fennelly: “In all my years in and around Scott County politics I’ve never endorsed a candidate for Congress in a Primary Election, but that was before I met Ben Lange . . . The stakes have never been higher for Republicans in Scott County, across the state of Iowa, and across America. Republicans can beat Bruce Braley in November, but we need conservatives and Republicans to get behind the highest caliber candidate. That candidate is Ben Lange.”

State Representative Steve Lukan: “Ben Lange is an inspiring and energetic candidate who understands the depth and breadth of our nation’s economic problems . . . Our country is literally on a path towards bankruptcy and the time has come for Eastern Iowans to send a genuine conservative to Congress who has the political will to say ‘no’ to more federal spending and ‘yes’ to private sector growth and development.”

State Senator Shawn Hamerlinck: “Over the past several months, Ben Lange has demonstrated himself to be an articulate and inspiring spokesman for issues of principal concern to my constituents in Scott and Clinton Counties . . . Ben has distinguished himself among the Republican field as someone who understands the importance of offering real solutions to address real problems. For that reason and others, I’m pleased to endorse Ben Lange and I encourage my supporters in Scott and Clinton Counties to join the Lange campaign and to support him on Primary Day.”

Former State Representative Willard Jenkins: “What I really like about Ben Lange is that he clearly understands the depth and intensity of our economic challenges and how he can go to work to solve them . . . Many of these challenges are global. He believes the solution lies with our privately owned businesses and services. Our state depends heavily on exports, largely because of our agricultural basis, and this brings us squarely into the international arena. Whether you are an individual, a family, a small business, a farmer, or work for one of our excellent large companies — from Waterloo to Davenport — I believe you have a friend in Ben Lange.”

Former State Senator Kitty Rehberg: “During the course of my life, I’ve watched good candidates come and good candidates go, but it has been rare to find that exceptional candidate willing to articulate conservative principles and stand by them . . . Having watched and listened to Ben Lange very closely in recent days, I believe conservatives across the 1st Congressional District have found our candidate who will champion our beliefs and who will respect the sanctity of life.”

Former President of National Pork Producers Glen Keppy: “During these times of severe economic hardship, Eastern Iowans need a representative who clearly understands the importance of free enterprise and our small business communities, the constitutional limitations on the federal government, and the lifeblood of Iowa’s economic well-being — agriculture . . . We need a true conservative who will be responsive to the voice of the people, who will protect our liberties, and who will keep us safe here at home. Throughout this campaign, Ben Lange has proven to be the true conservative with a compelling message that has commanded the respect and support of conservatives across the district. To those people who are concerned about their jobs, the economy, and government overreaching, I believe Ben Lange is the ideal choice.”

Former President of Iowa’s Corn Growers Association Tim Recker: “Today I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Ben Lange for United States Congress. Iowa farmers and corn growers have been searching for a candidate here in Iowa’s 1st District who is willing to listen to our concerns and who understands the importance of our industry to the State of Iowa and the country overall. Recent votes in Congress, such as passage of the cap-and-trade legislation in the House of Representatives, suggest that some folks simply do not understand the impact that particular pieces of legislation will have on our industry, or if they do, they have simply chosen to ignore them. As the son of a meat plant worker, Ben has demonstrated a genuine interest in understanding our concerns and I believe he will represent us well in Washington. For many of us, Ben is a breath of fresh air and I encourage others within our industry to support his candidacy.”

Former Dubuque County Republican Chairman Werner Hellmer: “Americans and Iowans are facing a fundamental decision . . . Do we want to govern ourselves or do we want politicians making our decisions for us? Ben Lange is the type of homegrown, small town Iowan who believes in the people. Ben is someone voters can trust and I encourage conservatives and Republicans to unite behind him.”

Former Scott County Republican Chairman Jim Davis: “As a longtime participant and observer in Iowa’s state and local politics, it is with great pleasure that I publicly announce my support for Ben Lange and his efforts to defeat the current agenda of the modern Democratic party . . . Ben is a young and refreshing candidate with a disciplined and compelling message that could breath new life into Republican efforts across Iowa’s 1st District while capturing the imagination of conservative Democrats and Independents here in Scott County.”
